What is Paramhansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi?

Paramhansa Yogananda came to the United States from India in 1920, bringing to America the teachings and techniques of yoga, the ancient science of soul awakening. He was the first master of yoga to make his home in the West, and his Autobiography of a Yogi quickly became a worldwide bestseller, fueling the awakening fascination with Eastern teachings in the West.

Autubiography of a Yogi is a spiritual classic which has inspired millions including Steve Jobs, The Beatles, Pandit Ravi Shankar and even Virat Kohli. The book offers its readers an opportunity to relive the lives of saints Paramhansa Yogananda visited, His life with Master – Sri Yukteswarji and the power of Kriya Yoga.

Steve Jobs and Autobiography of a Yogi

In 1974, Jobs traveled to India with a friend after reading Be Here Now and Paramhansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi. It’s the only book he had on his iPad, and every year Jobs would read it. After his passing, 500 copies of this classic autobiography were handed out at Jobs’s memorial. It was one of the instructions he left.

You can read more about Jobs’ spirituality and Autobiography of a Yogi at Ananda’s blog.

Virat Kohli called Autobiography of a Yogi a must read

In February 2017, Virat Kohli surprised many people when he posted a photo of him holding a copy of Autobiography of a Yogi in his hand. He wrote on Instagram, “I love this book. A must read for all those who are brave enough to let their thoughts and ideologies be challenged. The understanding and implementation of the knowledge in this book will change your whole perspective and life. Believe in the divine and keep marching on doing good deeds”.
